The Zorcerer of Zo is one year old (released 11/17/2006)! It looks like ZoZ picked up a few more customers since my last post on numbers; this makes the (approximate) one year sales numbers for it... 526 copies. (Numbers are approximate because I won't have IPR's sales numbers for the book for 4Q2007 until January 2008; I'll update again then.)
Also, in that last post, I said something like: Interestingly, 2007 will be the first year I haven't put out a new product since forming ASMP. Which isn't exactly true -- as folks following this LJ know, ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) drivingblind and I have been working on a promo/freebie product for the upcoming holiday season. I was just doing some back of the envelope calculations on overall sales numbers of Atomic Sock Monkey Press products for another purpose, and I figured it'd be interesting to post them here as well. These are the numbers I have across all sales venues -- RPGNow/DTRPG, e23, and IPR (through 3Q2007), with the release date of each.
Monkey, Ninja, Pirate, Robot Deluxe: 145 copies (released 12/06/2003). Dead Inside: 420 copies (released 01/23/2004). Cold, Hard World: 161 copies (released 08/03/2004). Monkey, Ninja, Pirate, Robot: the Roleplaying Game: 191 copies (released 05/27/2004). Truth & Justice: 707 copies (released 07/07/2005). T&J: The Turtlezilla Dossier: 64 copies (released 07/11/2006). The Zorcerer of Zo: 519 copies (released 11/17/2006).
On ZoZ one-year anniversary of it's release, I'll do a post on the year-end numbers. That is, if more copies get sold in the next eleven days through RPGNow/DTRPG -- I won't be able to get a read on the 4Q2007 numbers from IPR until January 2008. (Hmm. Interestingly, 2007 will be the first year I haven't put out a new product since forming ASMP. The development cycle for S7S has run longer than expected.) My read on these numbers puts ASMP solidly in the middle range of small-press publishers (those not producing d20 material). There is a growing number of small-press publishers with higher sales, and an even larger number with lower sales than those posted above. All-in-all, not bad. Well, the sales for the third quarter of 2007 came in yesterday for The Zorcerer of Zo at Indie Press Revolution. 68 copies (53 print, 3 PDF, 12 Print+PDF) copies. Overall IPR numbers break down as: 4Q2006: 67 1Q2007: 86 2Q2007: 64 3Q2007: 68 That makes the total copies of ZoZ (sold through IPR) 285 over four quarters. Woot! Overall numbers to date are: e23: 24 copies RPGNow + DTRPG: 208 copies IPR: 285 copies Total Sales: 517 copiesI'll do a "first year of sales" summary next month, on the anniversary date of the start of the pre-order period (November 27th). Let's see if we can better those numbers up there! Keep playing ZoZ, keep telling people about it (Actual Play posts, reviews, conversations), and keep demanding that your FLGS order it through IPR's direct-to-retailer program! This garnered a couple more sales, I think; 2Q2007 sales were 64 copies (51 print, 13 PDF). Overall IPR numbers break down as: 4Q2006: 67 1Q2007: 86 2Q2007: 64 That makes the total copies of ZoZ (sold through IPR) 217 over three quarters. Woot! Overall numbers to date are: e23: 20 copies RPGNow: 166 copies DTRPG: 21 copies IPR: 217 copies Total Sales: 424 copiesHoly crap. Remember when I said this, back in May: I've already made my goal of 300 copies sold by the one-year anniversary date of release; let's shoot for 400! Well, you zantabulous people made that happen, 4 months early, by playing ZoZ, by telling people about it (Actual Play posts, reviews, conversations), and by demanding that your FLGS order it through IPR's direct-to-retailer program. The following chart shows the rough estimate of The Zorcerer of Zo sales over the first six months of release of the book.
