Doc Tempest VS The Batman
...from the January 1970 issue

Here, my friends, for your possible amusement, are the complete lyrics to the "Food For Dogs" song that I sing to The Girls every time I feed them.

Food For Dogs (words and music by Doc Cross)

(spoken dramatically) "Who wants FOOOOOOOOD FOOOORRRRR DOOOOOGGGGSSSSSS?"

"It's food for dogs!"
"Not hogs"
"or frogs"
"on logs!"
"It's food for dog-dog-dogga-dog-dogs"
"Dog-dog-dogga-dogga-dogs-dogs"
"Dog-dog-dogga-dogga-dog-dog-dogs!"

"It's food for Daisy"
"Who isn't crazy!"
"It's food for Winker"
"My little stinker!"

"It's food for dog-dog-dog-dog-DOGS!"
"It's FOOD FOR DOGS!"

Note: The last line is sung in a very low bass.

I am slow

It's taken me 30 years to notice this, but the titular hill giant chief of module G1 is named Nosnra. Am I an idiot or what?

passing on a scholarship.
I saw this scholarship (Royal Neighbors of America: Heroes at Home Scholarships for Women Veterans) on Military.com and investigated it...

...and I really can't do it. Among the criteria is "those who have completed their service." I served just under 2 years, and my commitment had been for 6. (My discharge was honorable.) They also plan to give out the awards on June 12 in D.C., and I wouldn't be able to go because I'll be in school. With this semester being so short, I can't afford to miss a day.

However, I know there are a few ladies on my friends list who might like to make use of this info, which is why I'm posting this.

Today's a sit in the studio with shades drawn, drinking and listening to Veronica Lipgloss or something else low and dirgey.

But I"m at the office, drinking coffee, listening to slow dirges instead.

I reached my monthly breaking point about 2 weeks early.

It's a confluence of things. Some I can exercise more control over, some far outside my sphere of influence and, still, others I'm simply sick to death of hearing about.

As if that's all not enough this stupid issue has false folios. I screw these up every, single, time.

Speaking of good news bad news. Time constraints have availed me of redesign responsibilities. Good news as I could not simultaneously publish a weekly, and redesign the entire magazine in the alloted three weeks. It's bad news because I wanted the responsibility. The very idea of a flag to colophon redesign made me uncomfortable and panicky. It's exactly the kind of challenge I need.

C'est la mort

Veronica Lipgloss - Rats
In Strict Confidence - Wenn Ich Die Augen Schließe
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Henry Lee
Ritalyn - KY Re:amin
London After Midnight - Nothing's Sacred Extended Club Mix

Birds going crazy
There are large numbers of crows going absolutely insane here in the South Bay. I have never seen such a thing. They're flying overhead, circling round and round and making a lot of noise.

Anyone notice anything? Is this a pre-earthquake thing or are they just shooting the remake of "The Birds"? Heh.

Oooo, interesting.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgaCHmxmeUo (Music video, Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer" -- [info]katzchen mentioned it, see.)

Okay, despite the fact that a guy is singing it, twist the "speaker" to be female, and see what it does to interpretations?

Who's the dominant actor in the video?

Is, or is not, the guy (the actor, not the singer) hot?

Is there a cover with a female singer?

Why is my mind jumping up and down and insisting that the guy (not the singer, the actor-protagonist of the non-focused-on-singer/band part of the vid) is a good model for Dareus? I hadn't figured that he'd be that much of a hottie! *eyes brain*

(The. Cheekbones. My mom goes rowr for legs, but I've got this thing about OMG CHEEKBONES. Maybe that's one reason I'm a furvert; exaggerated cheekbones are part of many such drawings, yes? It's part of the "muzzle" effect, often. Hmmmm.)

Spielberg: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

WHAT DOES THE PROTAGONIST WANT? Indiana Jones, although still interested in historic artifacts, is here interested in a goal less tangible and harder to gain than a Peruvian idol or Sankara Stone -- communication with his father.

The structure of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is quite a bit more conventional than the structures of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom -- those movies had four acts of roughly equal length, with three chapters in each act, for a total of twelve chapters. I find Last Crusade to be more conventionally structured, a straight-ahead three-act narrative with a prelude.
