Hurm - I Have Powers
I am the Monkey King!
One of my greatest regrets is never meeting John M. Ford in the flesh.

One of my greatest blessings is to have interacted, oft-times regularly, with John M. Ford on the Pyramid messageboards and in email.

God grant I am half the writer Mike was, and I will be happy.

I'd pay good money for his Pyramid posts. So would a significant number of folks, I think.

I consider myself blessed to have had the few interactions with him that I did. We shall not see his like again.

Mike is Ta Awesome. [I refuse to say was, because everyone that remembers him and reads his work keeps him alive in our hearts.]

He is one of the class of authors I classify as Wordsmith (those that craft eternal beauty out of words). I'd aim for 1% of his ability myself, and be quite happy if I attained it. <grin>

[Although, in truth, what I really always wanted was to get a part in one of his con plays. I deeply regret my putting off attending another Minicon because of work commitments (it eventually turned out to be the one before he died). <sigh>]

Vale Mike.

I was thinking of him recently, too.

Same here. Did something JMF-related come up?

Nah, just re-reading a bunch of his work.

The worm drives helically through the wood
And does not know the dust left in the bore
Once made the table integral and good;
And suddenly the crystal hits the floor.
Electrons find their paths in subtle ways,
A massless eddy in a trail of smoke;
The names of lovers, light of other days --
Perhaps you will not miss them. That's the joke.
The universe winds down. That's how it's made.
But memory is everything to lose;
Although some of the colors have to fade,
Do not believe you'll get the chance to choose.
Regret, by definition, comes too late;
Say what you mean. Bear witness. Iterate.
- John M. Ford.
