	Weekend Nano-Update
	Vague work on script with patricks throughout. Fliday: Started reading Robert Graves' King Jesus. Enjoying it. Sabaday: Took more Dresden longhand notes; now 3/4 of way through Small Favor. Had a nice lunch with geekchick at Luna Cafe in Squirlingdon. Have now tried Mo's Bacon Bar and I declare it good. Sumday: Kitteh visit for boadiccea. Then I followed her back to her place, where rottgrub helped rebuild my laptop from craptastic to awesomesauce. (Still lacking Visio, MS Word 2003, and Citrix for day-job needs; day-job should be able to pony-up install discs for an evening, tho. Met super-kyoot puppeh girl, Fawn. Have been (finally) exposed to Avatar: the Last Airbender, will prolly watch more. Also saw the animated Dr. Strange... mixed feelings about it, though shading towards positive. Now, catching up on EllaJay. In other news, I am tremendously fat. (Note this is not BREAKING news, but hey.) Starting South Beach (more-or-less) tomorrow. Goal is to lose 20 lbs by GenCon. I blame beer and wine over past 4 months. Have successfully reduced beer intake to "one glass/pint when I'm out" but wine consumption still too high. With luck, this quarter's PR payment (which hits this month) will keep me out of the poorhouse. T-Minus 6 months until car is paid off, when I can take that money and throw at my credit card. ... I strongly recommend the Weight Watcher's point system. I'm down 25 lb since New Years with no real effort.

In several go-rounds with WW's points system, for me, it's good for about 15 pounds, then I plateau and cannot lose any more, no matter what.

Atkins worked for me for about 20, and boosted my energy, but I was uncomfortable with the strictness and possible health impact.

South Beach shares the "about 20" and energy boost aspects of Atkins, with less strictness and health impact.

15 lbs, eh> I'd tell you to just push through it, because that's what's worked with me - I lost some 65 lbs on it a while back and it took 6 years to put most of that back on (because, well, any dieting is a pain when your wife bakes). My experience, both then and now, was at 20-25 lbs I go through a real rough patch but if I just keep at it I can get over that hump and keep going. I just made it through that last week.

You mileage, of course, may vary. But not your mucilage. That should remain constant.

Last time I did WW, I lost the 15 lbs, and stalled. For six weeks. I even dropped my points back down to the starting amount, and no dice.

Weird.

You get fewer available points as your weight decreases, so going back to your starting amount isn't likely to help. ;)
